The Furman University Committeee on Scholarship Awards has selected a single Stewart-Collins Memorial Scholarship award recipient annually since 2002.
The amount disbursed each year is determined by the scholarship endowment fund and the specified spending policy of the University.
Financial donations made in support of the Stewart-Collins Memorial Scholarship are maintained, managed, and invested as part of the University’s endowment portfolio by the Finance Committee of Furman’s Board of Trustees. University policies limit scholarship awards to an amount that does not invade the principal. A multi-year pledge and an estate plan are in place to bring total gifts to the scholarship to the threshold level of $100,000 or more. It is expected that additional donor support, coupled with prudent management and investment, will allow substantial awards to selected students in future years.
